The Gift of Salvation

How does a person come to God?

John 6:44 (NIV) "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:64-65 (NIV) Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come tome unless the Father has enabled him."

You can stand right next to God and not be a believer. You can’t believe unless it’s been given to you to receive: He imparts a divine grace for you to act in Faith (you can’t make it, you just take it) when it’s handed to you! Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV) 8 For itis by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, itis the gift of God--9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Salvation is a free gift of God that is not attainable by works – you can’t earn it, but you can receive it!
