Acts 2:43 – Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.
The second chapter of Acts describes the beginning of the church age. There was great power exhibited from the very beginning and that power came from the presence of God. There is also another principal at work among the people, and that is the principle of unity.
Genesis 11 tells the story of the tower of Babel and the power of unity. Verse 6 says, “The Lord said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.’”
God’s laws and plans are not revocable and He created humanity to have power in unity. There are times that people can unite over good plans and there are times that people unite for evil purposes. The way to receive true power, however, is only through the presence of God. The Lord will bless unity in His presence and He will ultimately thwart unity that is opposed to Him. True power comes when we are united in the presence of God.
