JESUS

Q1: Who provided the only kind of sacrifice able to fulfill God’s covenants with Abraham, Noah, and Moses, fulfill the Law and the Prophets, and negate the penalty of death for sin?

A1: Jesus: The Lamb of God/Sacrifice

Q2: Who had the strength to disarm death, plunder Hell and disable Satan and all his demonic forces?

A2: Jesus: The Lion of Judah/Strength

Q3: Who gives believers the security that they too, will experience the resurrection, and inherit eternal life!

A3: Jesus: The Son of God/Security

Jesus: The Sacrifice of the Lamb

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

Matthew 5:17-18 ESV

9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Revelation 7:9-10 ESV

Jesus: The Strength of the Lion

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 12:7-9 NIV

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Colossians 2:15 NKJV

18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God, after being put to death in the fleshly realm but made alive in the spiritual realm. 19 In that state He also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison 20 who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people—were saved through water.

22 Now that He has gone into heaven, He is at God’s right hand with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him.

1 Peter 3:18-20,22 HCSB

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Ephesians 1:18-21 NIV

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:12 NIV

Jesus: The Security of the Resurrection

3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NIV

“The resurrection of Jesus Christ is a certainty, If any fact, not merely of Christianity, but of history, stands on an impregnable foundation, this does.”—B. P. Goodwin D. D.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

Romans 6:5-7 NIV

54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

1 Corinthians 15:54 NIV

We all need the Sacrifice of the Lamb

We all need the Strength of the Lion

We all need the Security of His Resurrection
