Community is Family | Week Three | Pattern’s Series

Jesus’s idea of Community is Family. 

 

18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. 19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, – Ephesians 2:18-19 NKJV

 

Jesus came to expand Gods family.

 

“it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ—if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.” – Romans 8:16-17 NRSV

 

“There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.” – Proverbs 14:12 NRSV

 

  • Every family has an Ethos
    • Ethos – the characteristic spirit of a community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations
    • How we live and treat others
    • Gods ethos for this situation

 

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, in order to make her holy by cleansing her with the washing of water by the word, so as to present the church to himself in splendor, without a spot or wrinkle or anything of the kind—yes, so that she may be holy and without blemish. In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” – Ephesians 5:25-28 NRSV

 

  • God has an ethos for his family
    • Love 1 Corinthians 13
    • Peace – 1 Corinthians 14:33
    • Healer  – Exodus 15:26
    • Savior/Restorer – Romans 10:13
    • Provider – Genesis 22:14
    • Gracious and Merciful – Psalm 103:8

 

33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. – 1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJV

 

26 … For I am the Lord who heals you.” – Exodus 15:26b NKJV

 

13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13 NKJV

 

14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” – Genesis 22:14 NKJV

 

8 “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” – Psalms 103:8 NRSV

 

  • The way we change our ethos
    • Get rid of the “high thing”
    • Mental and emotional transformation
    • Behavioral modification

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV

 

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2 NKJV

 

  • Break the old ethos and embracing the new
    • Difference in a slave and being adopted
    • Adopted children

14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. – Romans 8:14-17 NASB1995

 

Deliverance Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross for my sins and that you raised again from the dead.  I confess you as my Lord and Savior, I repent of all my sin and agreements I have made with Satan’s kingdom and the occult.

I forgive all others who have wronged me or harmed me.  I lay down all resentment, all hatred, and all rebellion.  In particular, I forgive ________________________________ (name).

Lord, I ask you to forgive me and to cleanse me by your precious Blood particularly of ______________ I accept your forgiveness and  I chose to forgive myself.

Now Lord, I renounce every lie I’ve believed and agreement I’ve made with the spirit of Slavery  I lose myself of the spirit of Slavery in the Name of Jesus and I command them to leave me.

Lord, you have said, “whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be delivered” (Joel 2:32).  I call on your Name right now and I recognize you as my deliverer.

 

Words of Knowledge 

We believe the Lord wants to heal people with sinus issues.

We believe the Lord wants to heal people struggling with shoulder pain.

We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who has been struggling with breathing. Your lung capacity has been operating at a lower-than-normal level. God wants to heal your lungs and breathe life into your lungs. We saw a double portion in this, your lungs will be healed, and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Lord wants to heal someone suffering with chronic migraines.

We believe there are many people this weekend who have accepted certain medical conditions as hereditary, so you think “it’s mine to deal with.” We believe that God wants to heal you. Come out of agreement with that lie and He is going to heal cancer, high blood pressure, arthritis, digestive disease and disorders, migraine headaches, COPD, asthma and allergies.

We believe the Lord wants to give peace and comfort to parents who are worried and fearful over releasing their children to a new chapter of life at college; away from the home and family where they were raised.

We believe the Lord wants to heal people who have been hurt or wounded by their earthly fathers.

Words of Encouragement:

We believe the Lord wants you to know that he loves you so much, he does not condemn you. He is standing with his arms stretched out in acceptance and love for you. For those feeling condemned, come receive the Lord’s acceptance and love for you.

We believe the Lord is restoring hope to those who have lost hope due to a long season of deferred answers from Him.

We believe we heard that the Lord is calling you to walk in HIS FULLNESS. He wants you to step into His presence. In HIS presence is FULLNESS of ___________. You fill in the blank. HE IS WAITING FOR YOU!

We believe we heard this from the Lord: You have learned and trained yourself to carry burdens you were never meant to carry. It’s time to cast every care on Him. He cares for you.
