Mindset of the World vs the Renewed Mind of Christ: 

    • Source of Wisdom:
      • Mindset of the World: Often derived from human reasoning, cultural norms, and societal trends. These perspectives are influenced by material success, personal achievement, and the pursuit of pleasure or power.
      • Mindset of Christ: Based on divine revelation as revealed in the Bible. Christ’s mindset prioritizes spiritual truths, eternal values, and the wisdom that comes from God.
    • Approach to Life and Morality:
      • Mindset of the World: Tend to be relativistic, often changing with societal trends and personal preferences. Morality can be subjective and centered around self-fulfillment and individual rights.
      • Mindset of Christ: Grounded in absolute truth as taught in the Scriptures. It emphasizes selflessness, sacrificial love, and living in accordance with God’s commandments.
    • Attitude towards Material Wealth and Success:
      • Mindset of the World: Often measure success in terms of wealth, status, and personal accomplishments. Material gain is frequently seen as a primary goal of life.
      • Mindset of Christ: Teaches that material wealth is temporary and not the ultimate goal. Success is measured by faithfulness to God, loving others, and storing up treasures in heaven.
    • Response to Suffering and Adversity:
      • Mindset of the World: Views suffering as something to be avoided at all costs. The focus is often on comfort, convenience, and personal happiness.
      • Mindset of Christ: Views suffering as an opportunity for growth, a means to develop perseverance, and a way to share in Christ’s sufferings. It teaches reliance on God’s strength and grace.
    • Perspective on Power and Authority:
      • Mindset of the World: Often equates power with dominance, control, and personal advancement. Authority is used for personal gain or to exert control over others.
      • Mindset of Christ: Emphasizes servant leadership and humility. Power and authority are exercised to serve, uplift, and benefit others.
    • View of Relationships and Community:
      • Mindset of the World: Self-centered, focusing on what one can gain from relationships. Community is often seen as a means to an end.
      • Mindset of Christ: Centers on love, sacrifice, and serving others. It promotes a sense of community built on mutual care, forgiveness, and bearing one another’s burdens.
    • Ultimate Goal and Purpose:
      • Mindset of the World: Seeks personal satisfaction, temporary pleasures, and achievements that affirm one’s ego.
      • Mindset of Christ: Seeks to glorify God, fulfill His will, and advance His kingdom. The ultimate purpose is living in a way that reflects God’s love and brings others to a knowledge of Him.

What is Mind Renewal?: 

    • Removing worldly influences and relationships
    • Replacing lies with truth
    • Reengaging atmospheres and activities that are God-centered
    • Holy Spirit involvement is required

 

Practical Steps to Reset For Renewal 

  1. Ask for Forgiveness
    • 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ~ 1 John 1:9 NASB
  1. Forgive Others
    • 14 For if you forgive other people for their [a]offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ~ Matthew 6:14 NASB
  1. Renew Your Mind
    • 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [c]acceptable and perfect. ~ Romans 12:2 NASB
  1. Cultivate Faith and Trust in God
    • 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. ~ Proverbs 3:5 NASB
  1. Embrace God’s New Mercies Every Day
    • 22 The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. ~ Lamentations 3:22-23 NASB
  1. Focus on Christ and His Example
    • 2 looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~Hebrews 12:2 NASB
