Chosen and Called | Week 1 | Chosen Series

You are not here by accident. You were chosen before the foundation of the world to fulfill God’s divine purpose!

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. ~ 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

You were Chosen for a Purpose…

  • God’s Sovereign Choice: Ephesians 1:4-5 NIV (For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will)
  • Formed with Intention: Psalm 139:13-16 NIV (13 For you created my inmost being;     you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.)
  • Created for Good Works: Ephesians 2:10 NIV10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.)

Empowered by the Holy Spirit…

  • The Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20 NIV (18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”)
  • The Great Commandment: Matthew 10:8 NIV (Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.)
  • The Power to Accomplish Commission and Commandment: Acts 1:8 NIV (But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”)

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”Mark 12:30-31 NIV

Boldness in Action

15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!” John 21:15-19 NIV

You are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a Holy Nation, called as God’s own possession, now is the time to be equipped. Now, walk with God!
