9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; ~ 1 Peter 2:9 NASB 1995
Do we realize what it is to be chosen?
To be Chosen is not just to be highlighted. It means: “To be selected, desire, prefer, to enter into a covenant, to be chosen, the best, be joined, acceptable, appointed, excellent.”
There’s a duty to being a chosen race!
There’s a duty to being royalty and priestly!
There’s a duty to being a holy nation!
2 Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, ~ 1 Peter 2:1 NASB 1995
Do we realize what it is to be chosen?
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. ~ Colossians 3:12-17 NASB 1995
2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, 3 if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord. ~ 1 Peter 2:2-3 NASB 1995
If we are to operate as royal priest we must never get tired to hear the simple truths of the gospel!
4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Peter 2:4-5 NASB 1995
Do we realize what it is to be chosen?
6 For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.” ~ 1 Peter 2:6 NASB 1995
7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, “The stone which the builders rejected, This became the very corner stone,” 8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. ~ 1 Peter 2:7-8 NASB 1995

God doesn’t just want to build a holy temple. He wants us to build it together in community.

When there’s a royal priesthood represented in the home we then get to stand in the gap for our home / our family. We then get to make intercession for our family. Leading in worship. Renouncing and breaking ties with idols and altars created by others and even generationally.

We may have started as ordinary people but because He chose us we’ve become extraordinary.
