Partnering with His Purpose | Week 2 | Power of Prayer Series

Prayer aligns us with God’s purpose and empowers us to bring His will into the earth.

The Priority of Prayer

  • Prayer is the priority of Jesus.

12 And Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all those who were selling and buying on the temple grounds, and He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves. 13 And He *said to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a den of robbers.” ~ Matthew 21:12-13 NASB

  • Prayer was the only thing the His disciples asked Him to teach them.

11 It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, when He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.” ~ Luke 11:1 NASB

God chooses to operate through humanity.

28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” ! ~ Genesis 1:28 NASB

16 The heavens are the heavens of the LordBut the earth He has given to the sons of mankind. ~ Psalm 115:16 NASB

14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14 NASB

Aligning with God’s Will Through Prayer

“And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’ ~ Matthew 6:7-13 NASB

  • Prayer is about aligning our desires and actions with God’s will.

  • Prayer as a tool for seeking guidance and empowerment to enact God’s will on earth.
