Prayer/Deliverance | Week 4 | Soul Care Series

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. ~ Galatians 6:9 NIV

The story of Aaron and Hur holding up the hands of Moses

The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. ~ Exodus 17:8-13 NIV

Devotion to one another destroys the work of the enemy!

15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” ~ Joshua 24:15 NIV

Devote yourself to raising the arms of the leaders you serve and you and everyone around you will win!

Story of the paralytic being lowered down to Jesus Mark 2:1-12

A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, Son, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:1-5 NIV

When he saw “their” faith: Who’s faith, the faith of the man’s friends.  Jesus is moved by faith; it doesn’t even have to be yours!

The Power of Prayer

8When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.  ~ Revelation 5:8 NIV

The prayers of the Saints – If you are a believer, you are called a Saint because you have been radically transformed by the blood of Christ and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  You are a whole new creature in Christ “2 Corinthians 5:17” – the old is gone the new has come – and your prayers are powerful!

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ~ 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NIV

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. ~ James 5:14-15 NIV

17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. ~ James 5:17-18 NIV

11 And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” ~ 1 Samuel 1:11 NIV

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.~ Romans 6:11 NIV

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. ~ Galatians 6:9 NIV

Don’t give up on your relationship with the Lord, or your hopes and dreams for your future, his calling for your life or your purpose in him, hold on to his promises…they are yes and amen! Your “due time is coming”!
