Water Gate

Nehemiah’s Water Gate represents the Word of God and Holy Spirit in our life. In the book of Nehemiah, the Water Gate did not need to be repaired. This represents the fact that God’s Word is perfect and needs no revision. Its promises are for sure and remain true forever. The Water Gate represents: Revival resulting from the washing of the Word of God and an outpouring of Holy Spirit. The word “revive” in Hebrew is Chayah which means to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live forever, be quickened, be alive, be restored to life or health. In Nehemiah 8 we see the Israelites’ hunger and thirst for scripture and how it brought about a great revival for them.

This life comes from reading and understanding God’s Word and from a fresh baptism of fire and Holy Spirit.

The Lord spoke this to us as a church family on 8-15-2022:

Continue to pursue me in all seasons. As you chase after me and my Kingdom, I will hear your cries and fill you with rivers of living water. This water will flow from you, and I will use you to refresh others. I will use you to nurture Kingdom assignments here on Earth. When obstacles come, and they will, you will leap over them all just like a runner does in a hurdle race. The patterns and disciplines you put in place now will directly impact you in your future.

1st Prayer Point: We want to praise the Lord for His Word!

Psalms 119:12-16 (HCSB) Lord, may You be praised; teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from Your mouth. 14 I rejoice in the way [revealed by] Your decrees as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways. 16 I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

Psalms 119:47-48 (HCSB) I delight in Your commands, which I love. 48 I will lift up my hands to Your commands, which I love, and will meditate on Your statutes.

  • Thank you, Lord, for your Word that directs our path.
  • Thank you for your Word that brings life to our bodies.
  • Thank you for your Word because it gives us a long and healthy life. Proverbs 3:1-2 (HCSB) My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands; 2 for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well-being.
  • We praise you Lord for your promises that train us in righteousness.
  • We thank you because we are blessed when we hear and obey your Word.
  • We are thankful that Your Word is living and active in our lives.
  • We praise You because Your Word builds our faith.

2nd Prayer Point: Pray for renewal and a hunger for His Word. When weariness, misery, and defeat try to overtake us, His Word will speak to us and call us out of that pit.

John 7:37-38 (NIV) On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Psalms 63:1 (HCSB) God, You are my God; I eagerly seek You. I thirst for You; my body faints for You in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.

  • Pray for those who feel as though they are in the middle of a desert or dry season to be renewed in His Word and His presence.
  • Pray that we all develop a new hunger and thirst for His Word.
  • Pray for the Spirit of wisdom, truth, and revelation to be poured out on us so we may know Him better.
  • Lord, we want to be a people who are trained in the Word and know how to apply it to our everyday lives.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

  • Pray for the leaders and staff of The Crossing College.
  • Pray for those who want to attend, Lord we ask that you make a way for them.

3rd Prayer Point: Pray for a heart of repentance. Our desire is to be in right standing with the Lord. We desire to be washed by the Word of God.

Nehemiah 8 Just like the Israelites in Nehemiah 8:1-6, as we devote ourselves to scriptures, repentance will come from the application of the Word to our heart.

  • Pray that as we continue to study the Word, that the revelation deposited will cause us to live more like Him in every area of our life.
  • Pray for the Word to expose hidden areas of our heart. Psalm 139:23-24 (HCSB) Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.
  • Pray for any error or pride in our own lives to be exposed, corrected, and removed.

4th prayer point: Revival: We want to see our own life, our families, our church, our communities, our state, our nation, and our world revived and transformed by the power of God.

  • Pray that we will personally experience life more abundantly as we spend time in His Word.
  • Pray for our church to experience miracles, signs, and wonders every time we meet. This includes our services, life groups, prayer services, and Sisterhood and Iron Men gatherings.
  • Pray that our communities and neighborhoods will experience restoration in every way.
  • Pray that our state and nation will experience an outpouring of His presence in every sphere of society.
  • Lord, send revival to this land!
