23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. ~ John 12:23-26 NKJV
We have in the world today a culture built by Mammon.
Two mechanisms of Mammon
- Fear
- The language of fear
- You don’t have enough
- You are going to struggle when you get old
- My kids will be broke
- Church
- I can’t afford to tithe
- I can afford to give
- You can’t trust them, they are just men
- The lie
- God is not good and will not take care of me
- The language of fear
- The Devourer
- Our money disappears
- People pay
- To God (tithe)
- Sickness
- Interest
- Debt
- Their stuff
- Unforeseen expenses
8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts; ~ Malachi 3:8-11 NKJV
Tithe is holy to him
- 30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord. ~ Leviticus 27:30 NJKV
- 8 Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives. ~ Hebrews 7:8 NKJV
Tithe – builds a green house for the seed
- Your tithe is witness of what God you belong to.
- When we follow His word we come under His protection
Seed is above your tithe
- 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NKJV
- 10 Now the One who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 HCSB
Seed – is the part of your life that you give above you tithe
