Firm Foundation | Week 1 | Vision Series
The Crossing Church 2025 Vision Newspaper
2 Then the Lord answered me and said, “Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. 3 “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay. ~ Habakkuk 2:2-3 NASB1995
The solution is our firm foundation that we get to build upon (Jesus Christ) because we must understand that what we build upon sooner or later will be tested by the storms of life.
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” ~ Matthew 7:24-27 NASB1995
Your ROCK (our foundation) cannot be shaken !!
He gives us a blueprint so we know how to build on this foundation…
- The Beatitudes: Jesus blesses those who are poor in spirit, mourn, are meek, hunger and thirst for righteousness, are merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, and persecuted for righteousness’ sake.
- The Law and the Prophets: Jesus emphasizes that he came not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it.
- Love and Forgiveness: Jesus teaches the importance of loving enemies, forgiving others
- Salt and Light: Jesus calls his followers to be “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world,” meaning they should positively impact the world around them.
- Living a Holy Life: Jesus emphasizes the importance of being holy as children of God.
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. ~ Matthew 7:24 NASB1995
Our problem is not in the hearing… our problem is in the obeying.
There has to be a connection between the house and the foundation. It would make no sense to build that house separate from that foundation. We build our house by spending time and growing with God.
You have to tie everything together so that it’s structurally sound.
Ties are our values : long suffering/patience, humble/humility, unified/unity, mature, God given authority, unselfish -loving-high morals -honest generous courageous – to be noble!
Ties are our faith: reflect on His goodness, journaling, coming to church consistently, serving to experience community, do the 21 Day Fast!
Ties are our belief in Gods Word: read it and meditate on it. Do a Bible app (I recommend the Bible plan on You Version) and then apply it to your life and your family’s. Partner with us for your kids reading (parent cue) and app link on notes.
The tie is simply your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and joined together it endures the storms of life.
Strong foundations are vitally important if a structure is to remain standing during a significant storm.
Your ROCK (our foundation) cannot be shaken !!
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. ~ Matthew 7:25NASB1995
Don’t be taken back…because this too is part of our growth! Storms are meant to test the foundation and integrity of the home.
Our foundation (JESUS) still speaks through His word.
- 2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. ~ James 1:2-4 NASB 1995
- 33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” ~ John 16:33 NASB 1995
- 3 And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. ~ Romans 5:3-5 NASB 1995
We can suffer well when Our foundation is built on this Rock!
What if Gods best for us… is THROUGH that storm ? The storm is a season but we have to get through it because our life will not be the same anymore ONCE we get through it!
We have gotten used to siting instead of persevering..
Praising our way through the storm.
Praying our way through the storm.
Fasting and crucifying our flesh through the storm.
It doesn’t matter what storm we may currently be in… as long as we have the right foundation Jesus will ALWAYS BE IN THE STORM WITH US!
Your ROCK (our foundation) cannot be shaken !!
Storms are where Jesus dwells
Storms are where Jesus defies the odds of gravity
Storms are moments that Jesus and Jesus alone speaks and calls them Peace be still instead of storm be still
Storms are where He says “COME” and we get out of the boat and we then get to defy the odds WITH HIM!!
26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” ~ Matthew 7:26-27 NASB1995
Storms come to everyone!
- So WHY do we do storms ALONE?
Some of these actions are generational – we’ve grown up this way… figure out – tough it out- don’t cry- don’t let anyone know you’re suffering- lie about it
The thing about a storm is that it will expose your foundation when the storms of life come.
Could it be that at times God allows a storm so that He can take us to the next level? Take us to the next moment of growth ?
- There are storms that bring about obedience when we are tested and have to face trials.
- Storms that purify because they are meant to prune us.
- Storms that wake us up and protect us.
- Storms of warfare that help us with our God given spiritual weapons to engage in prayer.
Your ROCK (our foundation) cannot be shaken !!
We must build a sound structure tied to our foundation which is Christ and when the storms come remember that… YOUR ROCK CANNOT BE SHAKEN!
