Heaviness and depression | Week 1 | Niotho – I Feel Series

Emotions are great indicators but horrible navigators.

We are spirit beings having a human experience.

³ To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” ~Isaiah 61:3 NKJV

Two aspects of heaviness and depression

• Physical aspects
• Spiritual

Physical: Depression : inadequate supply of serotonin

Spiritual:

² Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. ~ 3 John 1:2 NASB1995

²⁷ But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. ~ Mark 3:27 NASB1995

House of heaviness

• Broken heart or broken spirit
• Excessive sorrow -grief
• Self pitty
• Suicide
• Insecurity
• Reclusiveness
• Heaviness
• Depression
• Discouragement
• Hopelessness
• Rejection
• Inferiority
• Suppressed emotions
• Never satisfied
• False responsibility

Broken spirit

Broken spirit

• Can come when someone is damaged by someone who was supposed to love them
  • Can cause Dysfunction in relationships
    • Don’t feel safe with each other
    • Childhood
      • Emotional abuse
      • Verbal abuse
      • Physical abuse
      • Sexual abuse
      • Performance perfectionism and drivenness

• Manifestations of a broken spirit (behavior that we have to put to death) ~ Ephesians 4:29-32 NKJV
  • Bitterness has to be crucified
    • Foul language
    • Destructive speech
  • Wrath: a passionate anger that could result in consequences that seeks to control you.
  • Anger: impulsive agitation of the soul. Violent emotion.
  • Clamor: a sorrow, wailing, crying for help that never got answered. Often comes as way to get our way
  • Slander: injuring speech to another’s good name, verbal abuse by someone, lied on by someone that caused you pain. Wounding of someones reputation.
  • Malice :intent or desire to do ill will to someone
  • Hyper sensitivity: easily hurt or offended. People who are emotionally fragile
•  ²⁹ Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. ³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. ³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. ³² And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. ~ Ephesians 4:29-32 NKJV

• Physical signs of Brokern Spirit
  • Depression
  • High blood pressure
  • Digestive problems
  •  Infections
  • Low energy
  • Avoid confrontation
  • Problems connecting or being intimate with others
  • Expressing your needs
  • Emotional numbness
  • Ability to walk away from relationships with no emotional pain

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; ~ Luke 4:18 NKJV

Deliverance Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross for my sins and that you raised again from the dead.  I confess you as my Lord and Savior, I repent of all my sin and agreements I have made with Satan’s kingdom and the occult.

I forgive all others who have wronged me or harmed me.  I lay down all resentment, all hatred, and all rebellion.  In particular, I forgive ________________________________ (name).

Lord, I ask you to forgive me and to cleanse me by your precious Blood particularly of ______________ I accept your forgiveness and  I chose to forgive myself.

Now Lord, I renounce every lie that I have believed from the spirit of __________. I lose myself the evil spirit that have been identified in the Name of Jesus and I command them to leave me.

Lord, you have said, “whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be delivered” (Joel 2:32).  I call on your Name right now and I recognize you as my deliverer.

Demon because of the Blood, you have no power over me and you have no place in me.  I now cancel any legal right you have, to remain in the Name of Jesus. The Bible tells me that “I have all authority over the power of the enemy” therefore I command you spirit of ____________________ to leave my life now and never return.
