Overcoming Deception | Week 2 | Overcomer Series

This statement “overcomer” speaks of things to be not as though they were.

The enemy wants you to think you are bound to sin from the fall. He started in Genesis with deceiving God’s prefect design for mankind.

Some of us are being deceived. This happens because the relationship has been broken with God to keep us away from His presence where we have access to overcome all of our problems!

The enemy ONLY has the authority that’s given by God but it is not equal or comparable to God!

The intention of the garden and its perfect design was for all of us to truly understand The Father’s Love.  Nothing is more important than being in the presence of God. That’s why He created the garden: the place where you could be naked…want for nothing… have true intimacy… The garden brought us rest… a helpmate… The garden brought us peace…

This is why God wants to restore us. This is why the garden was so important to God because it is the place where intimacy with God was birthed. Where love was supposed to be cultivated. Where trust was planted.

¹⁵ Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. ¹⁶ The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; ¹⁷ but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” ~ Genesis 2:15-17 NASB1995

We have to get back to the garden and Into His presence!

¹⁵ Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. ~ Genesis 2:15 NASB1995

He says to cultivate it and keep it and yes working is important and needful for us. But in order to cultivate something and keep it or maintain it we would need to be taught, shown, and explained. And so The only way to understand God is by spending time with Him in the garden / in His presence. Receiving instruction and guidance through relationship to better cultivate and keep what He has given us.

3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” ² The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; ³ but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” ⁴ The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! ⁵ For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” ⁶ When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. ⁷ Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. ~ Genesis 3:1-7 NASB1995

So deception opens the door to shame and the spirit of fear.

We have to get back to the garden and Into His presence!

15 O Lord, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? ² He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart. ³ He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; ~ Psalm 15:1-3 NASB1995

⁷ For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… ~ Proverbs 23:7 KJV

¹³ Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. ¹⁴ But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. ¹⁶ For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.. ~ James 3:13-16 NASB1995

Jealousy is desiring what we don’t have, and it can lead to possessiveness and fear of losing what you do have.

¹⁷ But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. ~ James 3:17-18 NASB1995

Without wisdom in our hearts it is impossible to overcome evil with good..this is how we can overcome deception.. by putting the word of God “wisdom” in our hearts and living this out.

Could it be that we have not overcome because our fruit might be spoiled?

The enemy is deceiving YOU into thinking that it is him so that YOU would not reflect on you! He cares about you not getting the deliverance from deception; the breakthrough from deception: the severing of the soul tie from deception.

Our identity isn’t in the enemy! Our identity is in Christ!

You do know that you can stay in His presence ALL day. You do know you can take His presence with you ALL day. You do know that He will never leave your presence ALL day!? Right?! But it is us that tend to leave… not Him!
He says He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb 13:5)   That He is ever present in a time of trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

⁸ They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. ⁹ Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” ¹⁰ He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” ~ Genesis 3:8-10 NASB1995

Now, because we hide from relationship with God, we start relationship and make covenant with other things… fear, temptation, anxiety, etc

We have a choice… Either we get to choose to practice HIS presence OR we practice in the presence of our problems!

We have to get back to the garden and Into His presence!

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. ~ Romans 12:21 NASB1995

It’s a fight! So we have to learn to take not just a defensive stance but an offensive stance against the enemy to overcome evil with good! It’s intentional!!!

We overcome when we sit at His feet. Reading and meditating in His word. Praying and Listening intently.

Your best offensive weapon is the word of God! And your best defensive weapon is prayer!

¹² For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ~ Hebrews 4:12 NASB1995

⁶ And He began telling this parable: “A man had a fig tree which had been planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and did not find any. ⁷ And he said to the vineyard-keeper, ‘Behold, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree without finding any. Cut it down! Why does it even use up the ground?’ ⁸ And he answered and said to him, ‘Let it alone, sir, for this year too, until I dig around it and put in fertilizer; ⁹ and if it bears fruit next year, fine; but if not, cut it down.’” ~ Luke 13:6-9 NASB1995

Words of Knowledge

• We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who is suffering with ear issues.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who has been diagnosed with a blood disorder or disease.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who has scoliosis.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal someone with degenerative disc disease.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal people struggling with knee pain.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal people struggling with sciatica pain.
• We believe there is someone struggling with sensitivity in their teeth and the Lord wants to heal you today.
• We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who is having issues with their big toe.
• We believe we heard the Lord say He wants to set someone free of stubborn pride. We believe the Lord is saying that you have had several situations which have caused you to feel embarrassed and a little humiliated because people saw your weakness. He is saying this is Him pushing on the pride in you so that you will ask Him to free you of it.
• We believe we heard the Lord say that He wants to set someone free of selfish ambition. You have had several business deals fall apart. You have even thought or said, “I’ve lost my touch.” This is God not allowing you to continue forward with selfish ambition that has been driving you. He will free you of this today and replace it with a kind generosity.
• We believe we heard that there is a stubbornness between a man and wife that has been going on for a long time. We believe the Lord is telling you to stop it and reconcile today. Admit you have done wrong and ask for forgiveness. The Lord wants to heal your marriage today.
• We believe we heard the Lord say, “I have been speaking to you clearly on a direction and you have been refusing to do it. Submit your will to mine and it will work out for your best.”
• We believe we heard the Lord say that there is a single mom who has been praying for a Godly husband for you and your children. We believe we heard that this man is already in your life, but you’ve been blinded by what you thought it should look like. The Lord is opening your eyes today to see this man differently now.
• We believe we heard two very specific words:
  • The first one is for Jan, don’t worry about the diagnosis, it’s wrong. Go for a second opinion.
  • The second one is for Bob, we believe the Lord is saying it’s almost over! Just hang on, don’t give up.
