Message Notes

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the [a]west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. Exodus 3:1 (NASB 2020)

God qualifies you when you are RESPONSIBLE with what is already in your hands.

Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of [a]a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed. Exodus 3:2 (NASB 2020)

God qualifies you when you REACT to His revelation.

So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this [a]marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:3-4 (NASB 2020)

God qualifies you when you respond with AVAILABILITY.

Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. Exodus 3:5 (NASB 2020)

God qualifies you when you RECOGNIZE His holiness and respond with REVERENCE.

And He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3:6 (NASB 2020)

God qualifies you when you ROOT your identity in His covenant relationship.

Then Moses said to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” But the Lord said to him, “Who has made the human mouth? Or who makes anyone unable to speak or deaf, or able to see or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now then go, and I Myself will be with your mouth, and instruct you in what you are to say.” Exodus 4:10-12 (NASB 2020)

Words of Knowledge:

  • We believe the Lord wants to heal someone who fractured their right hip over a year ago, and you have been having continuous problems with it healing.
  • We believe the Lord wants to heal someone that got a chemical burn recently on their arm and hand.
  • We felt like the Lord showed us that there is someone suffering from a broken heart and they are experiencing physical pain from this. It is heavy! They feel like a cloud is around them. We believe that God wants to set them free today!

Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ ‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” Luke 15:11-32 (NIV 1995)

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV 1995)

“The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord,
“when I will send a famine through the land,
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. Amos 8:11 (NIV 1995)

Born for This | Week 3 | Living as a Moment Maker

Message Notes

God works and leads us through specific moments in life. These moments lead us to a purpose greater than ourselves.

Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. Genesis 22:13 (NASB1995)

Then his brothers went to pasture their father’s flock in Shechem. Genesis 37:12 (NASB1995)

The men of David said to him, “Behold, this is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘Behold; I am about to give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it seems good [a]to you.’” Then David arose and cut off the edge of Saul’s robe secretly. 1 Samuel 24:4 (NASB1995)

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1 (NASB1995)

A “moment” is the collection point for God’s training, preparation, and provision for his future work in our lives. A “moment” reveals our response to God’s interruption, redirection, or unexpected situations in our lives.

“Moments” in our lives hold the potential to change everything, they release God’s power and His miraculous results in our lives.

“God Moments” are in every season of life. They are the places where the purposes of God meet the circumstances of our lives.

Now when the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. And Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me as far as Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel. And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he said, “Yes, I know it; keep quiet.” Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho. The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho drew near to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he answered, “Yes, I know it; keep quiet.” Then Elijah said to him, “Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them went on. Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan. Then Elijah took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, and the water was parted to the one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground. When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.” And he said, “You have asked a hard thing; yet, if you see me as I am being taken from you, it shall be so for you, but if you do not see me, it shall not be so.”And as they still went on and talked, behold, chariots of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it and he cried, “My father, my father! The chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw him no more. 2 Kings 2:1-12 (ESV)

“Divine Moments” are the intersection where we encounter God in the circumstances of our life.

Every one of us needs to realize that our response in one of these “moments” releases God’s blessings.

  • Lyrics to Steal My Show by Toby Mac

Another cold night Another late flight It’s almost show time, and Diverse City’s waitin’ on me We got a packed house, the crowd is callin’ out They want the beat to drop, but
what we really need is you! If you wanna steal my show, I’ll sit back and watch you go So now the crowd is hype, that you showed up tonight Anticipatin’, cravin’ somethin’ more than smoke and lights So I’ll step out the way, I’ll give you center stage If you got somethin’ to say, go on and take it away Need you to steal my show, can’t wait to watch you go So take it away Alright Spotlight Give’em what they came for When you arrive, we come to life Our hearts collide, they’re beating in the same time Your’re comin’ through, all eyes
on you Our hearts collide, they’re beating in the same time, beating in the same time No
matter who we are, no matter what we do Every day we can choose to say.

[Chorus]
My life
My plans
My heart
It's all Yours, God
Take it away
My dreams
My fears
My family
My career
Take it away
Take it away
It's all Yours, God

To take advantage of a “moment,” we need 4 things:

1. Trust – Proverbs 3:5-6

2. Patience – Psalms 27:14

3. Faith – Hebrews 11:6

4. Obedience – 1 Samuel 15:22

Five Qualities that Define Us as a “Moment Maker.”

1. Prepare - the moment before the moment

2. Pray - ask God to show up

3. Stay Low - know your place, be a team player

4. Notice - see it, hear it, join it

5. Stay In It - don't rush past the moment
